Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know before we start working together. Answers to key questions—brief and to the point.
The first look is an intimate moment before the ceremony when the groom sees the bride for the first time on their wedding day. It doesn’t have to be a traditional tap on the shoulder; there are so many ways to meet each other and have this moment for just the two of you - read your vows in private, calm your nerves, and take photos before guests arrive.Reasons to have one:You get to spend more of your wedding day together with your fiancé.You don’t need to extend or sacrifice attending your own cocktail hour. You get a great variety of couple photos location-wise, lighting-wise, and weather-wise.You can take photos with your whole wedding party before the ceremony. After the ceremony, you will get to celebrate, talk, and hug your guests who are there to celebrate you.To sum up:Do a first look if you prioritize attending your cocktail hour and talking to guests, want to get most of your formal photos done before the ceremony, and want to ensure enough time for your couple photos.Don’t do a first look if you want to see each other walking down the aisle and you are okay with a prolonged cocktail hour and a shorter family formal photo list.

No, it is not. Any professional photographer with years of experience is able to capture your wedding day in any new location. When preparing to capture your wedding, we do a walkthrough, check the lighting, and research your venue thoroughly so we know every corner and nook. New locations inspire us! As a destination wedding photography team, we’ve covered weddings in many countries, continents, and islands without having shot there prior. Knowledge of light and preparation is essential, and we invest a lot of time in the preparation process to ensure the seamless flow of your event. Just like a great chef can use any kitchen to prepare a delicious meal, a great photographer can deliver stunning photos anywhere.
Yes! We love a beautiful moody vibe or modern style flash photography. We bring all the lighting needed for photo and video coverage, along with prime lenses that perform best in low-light situations. If your wedding ceremony is planned for after sunset, your planner can help provide options for lighting rental companies so your guests can see you clearly.
Every wedding photographer’s deliverables are different, and the average time spent editing wedding galleries varies. We offer fuller galleries and high-end editing that includes in-depth retouching for a set amount of photos per package - such as sudden blemish removal, stain or obstructive object removal, color and light correction, and skin touch-ups.All photos in the gallery are edited manually to ensure the highest quality and attention to detail. This approach takes time and extra effort; while this level of editing is usually only offered by luxury wedding photographers, we pride ourselves on still delivering our galleries within the standard industry turnaround time of 6 to 12 weeks, depending on the season.
We can reschedule if we are available on your new date and if the location is not too far from the initial venue. To do this, a new contract must be signed and a new retainer is required. Once we secure your date with a contract and retainer, we turn away other couples who inquire about the same date. Your retainer secures only one day on our calendar and cannot be moved to another date.
Absolutely, and I highly recommend viewing full wedding galleries with every photographer you are considering. You can take a look at our full wedding galleries under "Featured Galleries" on jluzan.com/weddings. You can also always contact me if you need to see even more. References are available, and our couples gladly share their feedback both privately and in the comments under our Instagram posts: instagram.com/miami_photographer. You can check our reviews page to read or leave a review as well. We appreciate it greatly!
We offer wedding packages that suit almost any wedding scenario - from elopements (up to 4 hours) and half-day weddings (6 hours) to full 12-hour wedding days and full wedding weekends. If you are a big fan of photography and prefer a relaxed wedding day that unfolds naturally without a rush, go with longer hours. This ensures we have enough time for details, getting ready, bridal portraits, family and bridal party photos, couple portraits, ceremony decor, reception design, and sunset photos. Don’t forget to build some buffer time into your timeline just to enjoy the day and be present; it contributes greatly to your peace of mind. Every wedding day is different and should be customized to fit your needs. We are ready to work with you to make sure your timeline aligns with your vision every step of the way.
Of course! We love the planning process and are here to consult on anything and everything related to your day and photography. We love seeing design sketches, mood boards, style cues, and color palettes so we can feel your vision even before your wedding day starts. From the moment we say "Yes" to each other, we are one team working toward the dream day together.
The wedding industry standard is roughly 50 - 100 photos per hour, depending on the size of the event, the number of shooters and guests, and the pace of the day. We tend to deliver on the higher end of that standard. We don’t artificially limit the number of delivered photos, and we would never delete a beautiful picture just to hit a certain quota.Factors that can negatively influence photo counts include waiting for people to get ready, poor weather for outdoor ceremonies, or heavy travel traffic between locations. Factors that positively influence photo counts include people eager to take photos, beautiful details, eventfulness, a lively dance floor, and smaller venues that cut down on walking time (especially in heels and a gown).
No. The only shot list we will ask for is your family formal groups list. We take a documentary approach to make sure we capture everything happening around us organically, staying focused and present rather than checking items off a list. Instead of a shot list, we learn your vision through our questionnaire and a shared mood board folder. We learn the styles you love most and pay attention to the vibe and visual language you lean toward, making your gallery truly yours.
Mention anyone special you want extra photos with in our questionnaire, then plan a few special moments with them and add those to your timeline. For example, to get more candid photos with your dad, you could plan a first look with him, exchange a thoughtful gift, share a first dance, or play a fun game you used to play when you were little. This creates beautiful opportunities for candid shots alongside posed family formals.
On average, each group on your family formal list will take about 2 minutes. Younger people take a little less time, while older family members, kids, and larger groups take slightly longer. If you have 10 groups to capture, account for about 20 minutes.Posed editorial images with a specific setup (think Vogue-style shots using stairs or classic furniture, where everyone needs to stand or sit in a precise spot and be individually posed) will take 5 - 10 minutes per group.
We use dual-card-slot cameras for all our weddings so photos are recorded to two memory cards simultaneously. When the wedding day is over, we transfer the files to a hard drive, back them up to a second hard drive, and upload a copy to a secure cloud service. This gives us (and you) complete peace of mind.
We look for covered spaces to take photos or move indoors to continue coverage. Cameras can't stand the rain, so if it rains during the ceremony, having plenty of umbrellas for you, your guests, and the photo/video team is something your planner will take care of in case of a bad forecast. Please know that you are hiring a very weather-lucky team and we’re hoping this season won't disappoint either!
First of all, in my 16 years in photography, I have been fortunate and healthy enough never to miss a single wedding. Because the unexpected can always happen, I do everything within my control on a daily basis: eat healthily, work out, and maintain a wellness-focused lifestyle. In the rare case of an emergency, I will reach out to you immediately and coordinate with a trusted team of my colleagues who share my exact style and experience level, professionals I know and can truly rely on. I will still personally handle the editing to ensure consistency in style and attention to detail. My track record shows I’ve never had to use this backup plan, and with God’s help, I never will.
